Privacy Notice for Early Years Funding

Privacy Notice – Data Protection Act 1998

The London Borough of Croydon is a Data Controller for the purposes of the Data Protection Act. We collect and hold personal information relating to our children and families and may also receive information from any previous setting, local authority and/or government departments.

We use this personal data to:

  • Apply for Early Education, SEN funding or Early Years Pupil Premium
  • Support our children’s learning
  • Monitor and report on their progress
  • Assess the quality of our services

This information will include their contact details, attendance information, where they move on to and personal characteristics such as their ethnic group, any special educational needs they may have as well as relevant medical information.

The London Borough of Croydon will handle the information provided in line with the provisions of the Data Protection Act. Any personal information will be processed for the purposes of providing education services.

Croydon has a duty under the Children’s Act to work with its partners to promote the wellbeing of children and young people in its area and to provide and improve services. Therefore, the Council may also use this information for legitimate purposes in connection with this duty and may share this information where necessary with other bodies responsible for administering services to children, young people and families.

We are required by law to pass some of your information to the Department of Education (DfE).

Croydon also has a duty to protect the public funds it administers and to this end it may use the information you have provided for the prevention and detection of fraud.

The data will not be used for any other purpose than those stated in this notice. We will not give information without consent unless the law and our rules permit it.
